This is the only quilt I have made from a pattern. I made it for my husband while I was pregnant with our first son using a pattern from a book about Japanese quilting. 

At the time, I did not know how to bind a quilt. I was taking tailoring classes and making a dress with piping detail and I decided to use piping to finish the quilt, too. That was quite fiddly, because I had to sew the quilt together inside out! I used cotton flannel instead of batting and only quilted the blocks around the edge. I have learnt a lot since then!

I love the design, but it is now a few years old and has certainly been through the mill, exposed to both cats and small children on a regular basis (and the odd spilt drink or dropped snack from monsieur)! Unfortunately it is coming apart in some places, too and I am making my husband a new one for his birthday.
